This week I heard about the Orthodox Christian Burial on the Frederica Here and Now podcast from Ancient Faith Radio http://ancientfaith.com/podcasts/frederica/a_christian_ending
. I plan to order the book. There are Resources on the web site A Christian Ending (http://www.achristianending.com/
) - not many.
My husband wanted to be cremated so that he didn't have to put the expense of a mortuary on any of his family members. I told him that that is one thing I would never ever do again . . . it's just too difficult emotionally to receive a little box in the place of a person. . .and I totally disagree with cremating as far as my faith is concerned.
I have NEVER wanted to be embalmed - or put into a casket that's costs a fortune and is going into the ground. . .so I was at a loss - I didn't know what the alternatives where.
Now? I'm actually seriously considering a card board casket. . .**laughing** and even maybe being "planted" in my own back yard. But I'm actually excited about having an Orthodox Burial. . .it's just perfect.
I don't know what other information is in this book - but I hope to order it very soon and take a look at it. I'll post a review once I've read it. I hope there are other resources available in the book.
