Hey all, has anyone ever compiled a list of acceptable theologoumena in the Church? I'm just interested in little-held, or widely-held, beliefs that are just theologoumena.

If there isn't a compiled list, then just saying ones that you're aware of would be much appreciated.

From what I understand I've heard that universal reconciliation and toll houses are theologoumena. These are the only two I'm really aware of, and would like to know about more.

I think the idea that you have to weep for your sins to be forgiven to be one, as well as the idea that you have to be able to sense the Holy Spirit in you to be a true Christian/truly saved.

I've kind of heard the first one alluded to. The second one sounds more Protestant - is it that common from your experience?

I don't know, I haven't heard it often, but I have a few places. I think I first encountered it in the writings of St. Symeon the New Theologian.

Not that I am aware of, though I have seen more than one person who wanted to hold a deeply-cherished heresy yell "theologoumena!" in a crowded forum.  Roll Eyes
