Priest retires
« on: January 08, 2012, 11:02:52 PM »
My priest, Fr. Michael, today announced his retirement. He is going to switch to full-time work for the diocese. He was ordained over 30 years ago, has worked in several states, and is well-loved in our parish, where he's been for six years. Some of us apparently knew the information, but many were shocked to find out. I'm one of the latter (I was moved to tears). I am sure our new priest will be excellent, whoever is chosen, but I am going to miss Fr. Michael.   :'(

Your prayers for him, and for whoever is chosen as replacement, would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

God grant Priest Michael many years.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai

May the Lord have mercy upon Fr. Michael, granting him a happy and fruitful retirement, and upon his former flock so they quickly adjust and learn to love their new pastor.
Conquer evil men by your gentle kindness, and make zealous men wonder at your goodness. Put the lover of legality to shame by your compassion. With the afflicted be afflicted in mind. Love all men, but keep distant from all men.

Lord have mercy on your servant, and all his loving parishioners.
To God be the Glory in all things! Amen!

Only pray for me, that God would give me both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but truly will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one. St.Ignatius of Antioch.Epistle to the Romans.
