A young couple who died in yesterday's ballooning tragedy had already tried twice to go up in a hot air balloon but bad weather had postponed it.
Finally, fine weather yesterday meant 19-year-old Alexis Still and her partner Chrisjan Jordaan, in his early 20s, could float over Carterton.
But by 7.30am the pair were among 11 people who died when the balloon hit a power line, caught fire and plummeted into a paddock.

Lord have mercy and grant rest to the souls who perished.

Lord have mercy and grant comfort to the families and friends of those who mourn them.

May the memory of all who perished be eternal and may their families be comforted in the prayerful expectation of being reunited with them in Heaven
