The Western-rite St. Petroc Mission has published on Facebook in a Western-rite group news from their Philippines Mission:

Part of an email received regarding our Orthodox missions in the Philippines:

since Saturday last week, due to the recent tragedy that hit northern Mindanao city of Cagayan de Oro, where I had started a new mission community last June. Four (4) of my parishioners died from the flashflood. And, five (5) of my family relatives (as my mother is a native to that place), died, when their family were trapped inside their house when a 15 meters wall of water and mud mixed with trees and logs slammed and eradicated their whole village (subdivision)......

May the memory of our Orthodox brethren who died, and my family relatives' memory be eternal! Lord have mercy!

AFAIK The ROCOR Western rite mission is now under Fr. Cleopas, who has left the EP last year; he is now under the Old Calendarists. I just don't know though how exactly the ROCOR mission went to him, or what its status now, or if it's even Western rite since he is now Old Calendarist.

His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Vicar-Bishop for the Russian Western Rite Vicariate clarified the status of the Philippine Missions definitively on occidentalis writing:

The news is sad, but there was no ROCOR mission in the Philippines.

Fr. Michael's website does not always have accurate information.

Whatever the history of the Philippine Missions, it seems clear that St Petroc Monastery had aspirations to open mission fields in that country, and at least according to their website that interest remains undiminished.  Would that more Orthodox were so committed to evangelism for Christ.

More news of Fr Kleopas and the hundreds of people whom he has taken out of the canonical Church (ROCA in this case) and into a group associated with MAB (Metropolia of America and Britain - the ex-American Milan.)

Rumour has it that the Greek Old Calendarists have taken over the Paruchia missions in the Philippines.  With no SPM priest on the ground for years(?), and the Abbott  of SPM, Fr. Michael (Mansbridge-Wood) now living in Edinburgh, UK, thousands of miles from the Far East, is it any wonder?
