Please pray for the soul of my departed grandmother Mary who passed away late this evening.

We hope that she was peaceful in sleep, and we will miss her.

She was a devout Roman Catholic and I was able to see her this last week at Christmas time in the hospital. We were able to prayer her rosary together and call on the aid of the Mother of God to be with her at the hour of her death. I also read some prayers before sleep dealing with death from my Orthodox prayer book.

Her arrangements are for cremation, so also please pray for her body.

May the Lord have mercy and grant Mary peaceful repose.

May her memory be eternal!

Memory eternal!

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her
May she rest in peace,
O Lord, have mercy

O Holy St. Demetrius pray to God for us!

« Reply #12 on: January 02, 2012, 02:51:07 PM »

O Master, Lord our God, Who in Thy wisdom hast created man, and didst honor him with Thy Divine image, and place in him the spirit of life, and lead him into this world, bestowing on him the hope of resurrection and life everlasting; and after he had violated Thy commandments, Thou O Gracious lover of mankind, didst descend to the earth that Thou mightest renew again the creation of Thy hands. Therefore we pray Thee, O All-Holy Master give rest to the souls of Thy handmaiden, Mary, in a place of brightness, a place of green pasture, a place of repose, and, in that they have sinned in word, or deed or thought forgive them: For Thou art a good God and lovest mankind and unto Thee do we ascribe Glory, together with Thy Father, Who is from everlasting and Thine All-Holy and good, and ever giving Spirit, now, and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Grandmother. May the Lord comfort and guide your family during this period of mourning.
