With Christmas just around the corner (especially if you are New Calendar or Gregorian Calendar), it's fun to sit down and watch a good ol' Christmas movie or two sometimes.
I just finished watching Christmas Vacation with my parents. It's become something of a tradition for us to watch it every year. One of my favorite movies. The Santa Clause (1 & 2), Elf, and the Muppet Christmas Carol are some of my other favorite Christmas movies.
Anyone around here got some favorites?

Some years, I watch the old movie about Rudolph the red nose reindeer. It is the one which has Burl Ives as the voice of the snowman narrator. I used to watch it when I was a kid, a long, long time ago not in a galaxy far, far, away.

Die Hard
I suggested this to my family when they wanted to watch a Christmas movie, but they just laughed.

Die Hard
I suggested this to my family when they wanted to watch a Christmas movie, but they just laughed. A genre changer (genre maker) and great script and Bruce Willis and that guy who became the only person I cared about in the Harry Potter movies I saw.

"The Blues Brothers" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080455/2 ex-cons reform and try to save an orphanage run by an order of nuns. A big warm fuzzy. (plus where else can see Twiggy, Aretha Franklin, Pee-Wee Herman and Ray Charles in the same movie).

But...number one is Scrooged with Bill Murray...
I'll second this one. Definitely my favorite rendition of Dickens' work. Its a Wonderful Life is deservedly a classic, but suffers from overplay. Still, on the rare occasion I can actually go four or five years between viewing, it can be quite enjoyable.

I'm such a scrooge. I must be the only person who didn't really like "It's A Wonderful Life."
Even though it's not a Christmas movie - I often think of "Groundhog Day" as fitting for the season.
