You remind me of when some friends of my parents wrote to them that they would be coming to New York City and would it be possible to visit. My father wrote back that they would be delighted to see them... but did they realize that the distance from NYC to Montana was the same as that from Paris to Moscow? So some planning would be involved. The French made it out west and had a nice visit, but people not knowing distances can be amusing |

My town's unofficial motto is "______ likes it hot!". We're also famous for our chiles. ugh, the thought gives me a headache. I LOVE the snow, and I wish I lived in a much cooler place!
It has been my experience that those who wish for lots of snow have very little experience with the white stuff. They think it's all pretty, fluffy, and everything is just a winter wonderland. And it is. Until you have to shovel it. And drive in it. And the world is grey for months on end, and sunshine is rare. Then it's no longer the "Winter Wonderland" of Christmas songs, but more like a winter nightmare. The fantasy:  The reality:  |

I live in Billings, Montana. You can have any of our snow that you want. Actually, we don't have much snow on the ground right now (it is almost melted, yay!), but that could change Wednesday night. I am hoping that it will split when it gets in our area, and go south of us into the mountains and north of us (we have had that happen a few times in the last 2 or 3 weeks, and a really, really bad thunderstorm did that this summer), and not hit Billings. One year, Billings went almost 90 days straight for having snow on the ground. When you don't have a car and pretty much walk everywhere, all that snow (plus temps of -20 or lower without the wind chills factored in) does not make having to walk places much fun.
I would love to live in the UK (England or Scotland) or St. Petersburg, if I could live somewhere else.

I've always loved the mountains over the beach, so if I were to move anywhere it would need to have mountains. I've also wanted to live in the UK (Scotland or Wales would be preferred).

The rest of the time, there are these things called plows, we knew how to use them...  I got up early to shovel it. Not nearly as much a problem as it sounds. You just put on your gloves, jacket and boots and go out there. What's the big deal? Your opinion is yours, but not everybody thinks that way. |

My town's unofficial motto is "______ likes it hot!". We're also famous for our chiles. ugh, the thought gives me a headache. I LOVE the snow, and I wish I lived in a much cooler place!
It has been my experience that those who wish for lots of snow have very little experience with the white stuff. They think it's all pretty, fluffy, and everything is just a winter wonderland. And it is. Until you have to shovel it. And drive in it. And the world is grey for months on end, and sunshine is rare. Then it's no longer the "Winter Wonderland" of Christmas songs, but more like a winter nightmare. The fantasy: The reality: Nice! |

Well I live in Pennsylvania and I love the snow, especially in moonlight. I'm a little scared of Thomas Kinkade paintings though because it looks like everyone's house is on fire.
I don't mind snow, when living in a place where its decent enough to get the hint to stop snowing after spring. Snow into late April or May I can do without. |
