Weeping Icon Called 'Miracle' By Parishoners

POSTED: 9:26 pm EDT August 30, 2004 NewsNet5

CLEVELAND -- Parishoners at St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church say
that an icon at the church is weeping, releasing a holy oil.

The same phenomenon happened 14 years ago at the same church located
on East Pleasant Valley Road in Seven Hills, NewsChannel 5 reported.

The congregation of the church say an image of the Virgin Mary on the
altar began weeping Saturday at about 2:30 p.m. Moisture marks, said
to be from oil, are visible on the statue.

"You can still see the shiny area," said Father Mikhail E. Mikhail,
priest at the church for 30 years. He calls the event a sign from God
and a miracle.

The same thing happened on a Jesus icon in the church in September
1990. About 60,000 pilgrims came to view the phenomenon, some of them
from overseas. Moisture stains can still be seen on the icon from
that event.

Father Mikhail says the church is open to anyone wanting to come view
the weeping icon, during regular business hours on weekdays and
church services Friday and Sunday.

Oh Lord, Save thy people and bless thine inheritance.
Grant victory to the Orthodox Christians over their adversaries.
And by virtue of thy Cross preserve thy habitation.

The Mystery which was hidden from generations and ages was revealed to you, O fount of chastity, when the Archangel Gabriel came and greeted you, saying: "Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you, you are blessed among women."

Hail, O land that was never sown. Hail, O bush that was set aflame, but was not consumed. Hail, O depth which is difficult to be perceived by sight. Hail, O bridge that leads to the height and the ladder that lifts up into heaven. Hail, O vessel in which the Divine Manna was preserved. Hail, O you who abolished the curse of old time. Hail, O you who lifted up Adam from his fall. The Lord is with you.

Thanks for posting this, Bob!
Mor Ephrem is a nice guy.  Just say sorry and it will all be ok. Say I had things that were inside troubling me but I didn't know how to express appropriately. I will not behave that way again but I am seeking help.

...if you feel Mor really is in spiritual danger, pray the Jesus prayer for him.   :police:
