Martha Hayes was a gentle and kind soul, who only wished to find and give love in this world. She reposed in the Lord December 20, 2010. As her first year draws to a close, please remember her in your prayers. Fathers, if you would please commemorate her during the Divine Liturgy we would all be greatful. Let her rejoice in our memory of her and our love for her! May the Lord have mercy on Martha's soul, forgive her any and all trespasses and grant her repose amongst His Saints. Memory Eternal!

I share the sadness that she is no longer with us. I had the feeling that her connections with people on the forum were very important to her since she seemed a lonely soul out in the real world. But there is happiness in knowing that she has gone to another world where she will belong and where she has found the love she sought so much here.

Memory eternal! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYZ7YqIqm-w&feature=relatedGive rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints: where sorrow and pain are no more; neither sighing but life everlasting. Thou only art immortal, the creator and maker of All: and we are mortal formed from the dust of the earth, and unto earth shall we return: for so thou didst ordain, when thou created me saying: “Dust thou art und unto dust shalt thou return.” All we go down to the dust; and weeping o’er the grave we make our song: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Jesus said unto Martha, “ I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live “John 11:25

Martha was from Canada. She had worked in Ukraine as a missionary, some kind of Protestant, before converting to Orthodoxy. She was fluent in Russian, I understand. The sweetest lady, who wanted someone to love her. Memory eternal.

I just wanted to say that, although I wasn't a member when Rosehip was still on these forums, I've read through some of her posts and found them to be very edifying. It has certainly changed my perspective on life and faith. It is unthinkable that she isn't now in the eternal loving embrace of God. I want to say more but find it hard to articulate my feelings about it...

Praise the Lord! He has granted that she continues to live and influence us for the good with her writings--see the post by NightOwl above.

May her memory be eternal.
Martha didn't have many Orthodox friends and her family was not Orthodox. If you are a prosphora maker you could put her name on the commemoration list for the dead if you are so inclined. It is another way to show your love for her that she will greatly benefit.

I pray for her every liturgy! I miss her very much. She really was such a wonderful person, even though most of us only knew her online. Memory eternal.
