Robert K. Massie, well known for his books on Peter the Great as well as the Romanovs, has released a new volume, about the life of Catherine the Great.
From the article:
After marrying Peter, and surviving the volatility of Empress Elizabeth, Catherine developed a deep intuition and wisdom. Unlike Peter, who maintained an admiration for all things German, Catherine tried to learn Russian and adopted the Russian Orthodox faith, becoming more disarming to her subjects than her hapless husband.
I haven't read this yet, but I think I will soon. I thought others here may be interested, since Massie has written about other Russian rulers.
