O most Holy Theotokos, save us.

Could you please translate the above greetings into English?

I am a linguist, and I enjoy reading in other languages.

Others here might like to know too.

Thanks.

Selam everyone Grin

adding to Fiker's , here are some greetings in Amharic.

Selam Te'na yistiligne!/ May God grant you peace and health./formal greeting

Selam le' enante yihun/Peace be with you/Plural form

Selam le'ante' yihun/ Peace be with you/for male/formal

Selam le'anchi yihun/Peace be with you / for female/formal

Selam le' ezih bet yihun/ peace be within this house or household said as one enters the home of others/

Selam/ Peace/ informal greeting

Tena yistiligne/ may God grant you health/ said either as greeting or in parting.

endemin neh/male nesh/female/ nachihu/plural--How are you?

Egzi'abher yimesegen dehna' / God be praised or Thanks be to God I am well.. the response to the above. it is usualy shortened by omiting the I am well part which is the dehna' so one says simply Egziabher yimesegen!

I saw someone has asked how to say the pascal greeting in amharic.I will add the Geez version also. there are the long form and the short one

the long form is said in the church services mostly but one can use it outside when meeting a like minded person who would prefer the longer version.
here is the geez,1.Kirstos tense'a emutan! (Christ is Risen from the dead!)
2.be abiye hayil we'siltan!(With great Power and Authority!)
3.Asero le seyetan/He bound the Devil
4.Age'azo le Adam/ He freed  Adam
5.Selam/ peace
6.em'yieze'se/from now on
7.kone/is established
8.fese'ha' we'selam/joy and peace.
The short form is this one in geez again:1.Kirstos tensea emutan! /Christ is risen from the dead/
Be aman tense'a emutan! / Truly! He is risen from the dead!/

The amharic version is this, in the long version the english translation is the same as in the geez form above: 1 Kristos kemutan tenestual!
2.Be ta'laq hayil be'siltan!
3.Seytanin aserew!
4.Adamin netsa awetaw!
5.Selam!
6.ke zare jemero!
7,hone'
8.desta ena' selam!

The shorter version in amharic:1 kirstos kemutan tenestual! 2.Be ewenet kemutan tenestual!/ or even shorter kirstos tenestual!(Christ is risen!) 2. be' ewenet tenestual!(truly He is risen!)

ok this is all for today Smiley
God be with you all! ( Egziabher kenante gar yihun!/amharic/) (Egziabher misele' kulekemu!/Geez/) Grin
