"Pope Benedict XVI says he supports political actions around the world aimed at eliminating the death penalty, reflecting his stance as an opponent of capital punishment.

He made the comments Wednesday to participants at a meeting being promoted by the Catholic Sant'Egidio Community on the theme "No Justice without Life.""

I fully support the Pope on this. I also would like the death penalty done away permanently.

It's in line with the RCC's longtime stance on the issue.

Agreed, although in some locations and/or situations in this world, death may be more humane in terms of physical suffering than what might occur on a daily basis upon imprisonment.

Quite true.  For America, at least, I think the complete elimination of the death penalty is a good idea.  If God really wants someone dead for whatever reason, I think he's quite capable of killing them without our intervention.

Nice. It ironically co-occured with a situation in Polish Politics but I won't go into details in this section.
