At least nine people are dead following a fire in a Hong Kong market. The reason for the fire was not known at the time the article was posted.

From the article:
Quote
Fire crews with breathing apparatus battled the fire in the city's Fa Yuen Street for several hours, with up to 30 fire trucks on the scene at one point.

"I vaguely heard people shouting for help and I went to the window to see what was happening," local security guard So Kwok Suen told CNN.

I notice that you post a lot of news stories here, many of which relate news of mass deaths due to accidents or other unusual occurrences. What benefit do you hope we'll gain from reading these stories?

Just to motivate people to pray.

Some people say they don't believe in God because bad things happen. When I see things on the news, instead of reacting with despair, I thought it may be of some merit to turn to God and pray for these people. I know that people die all the time, but instead of becoming dull and desensitized to the events, I thought there was some minimal positive response we could have. That's all.
