Muslim gave his life for Mosul Christians
« on: August 04, 2014, 04:15:33 AM »
Lord have mercy.

Quote
He refused to keep silent about the violence agaist Mosul’s Christians  who are forced to choose between converting to the Muslim faith, paying the jizyah (the Islamic tax for non-Muslims) or fleeing. Professor Mahmoud Al ‘Asali, a law professor who lectures on pedagogy at the University of Mosul, had the courage to make a stand against this brutal duress which he believes go against the Muslim commandments. But he paid for this gesture with his life: he was killed by ISIS militants in Mosul yesterday.

The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai

Lord, have mercy.

I should like to think that his gesture would inspire other Muslims to do the same, but I fear that his punishment will bring about exactly the opposite effect. It would be good for us to pray for good-hearted Muslims like him that they would have the courage to speak up against the extremists, and ultimately begin to question why their faith seems to breed such atrocities.

I pray that the Lord recognizes him as a martyr for his brave and selfless defense of God's servants.

Only Jesus gave His Live to us all. If the individual fought against Islamic injustice by showing his solidarity with non-Muslims, then he was never a Muslim. A true Muslim would never defend "infidels".

May the Lord have mercy on him and may he rest in peace.

Memory eternal.

Indeed, may his memory be eternal.

Other reports are stating that those Muslims who resist the ISIS, especially the men, are led away in tie wraps to be shot in mass graves. There is a video online which shows ISIS dump trucks carrying these Muslims to their execution and burial site. I am not posting that one here. Some Muslims are wearing the Arabic "N" in a show of support of Christians. In ISIS controlled regions, these Muslims will be executed too. Unfortunately, the major news media are not mentioning this, only news blogs.

Most Holy Theotokos, save us and all who honor thee, including Muslims.

Matthew 25:31-46
King James Version (KJV)

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Hopefully the university will be re-named after him once this mess is over.

Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

Nice to see.

Ditto

I enjoyed this.

"They [Christians] are our own flesh and blood. ... Our country is like a rose, and its petals are the Christians, the Kurds, the Sabians, the Shabak people -- These are all our countrymen."

A beautiful sentiment.
