Lord, have mercy on Christy. Give her strength to ride out this self-destructive urge, and grant jckstraw72 everything he needs to help her.

Edit: Sorry, misread. Grant the fb friend what is necessary to help Christy.

Lord have mercy!
Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth

I hope she decides not to.  I knew somebody in high school.  We went 25 years without speaking with each other, but reconnected on fb last July.  I did not communicate with her much, but was still stunned a few weeks ago when my cousin, who is her age and was also a fb friend, called and asked me if I heard anything about her dying.  I was stunned, and even more stunned when I found out it may have been by her own hand.  I fought hard not to let it get to me too much, but was still haunted by it on and off for the next week, enough that I e-mailed my priest.  The moral of the story is that all that suicide accomplishes is that it saddens your friends and relatives.  I hope someone or the LORD convinces this person that.  LORD have mercy on this one and wrap your loving arms around her.  Do not allow her to do this.  Amen.

Is she on some kind of drug: medication or other (including alcohol)?

Has she been abused at home or elsewhere.?

Lord have mercy...
Courteous is my name,
and I have always aimed to live up to it.
Grace is also my name,
but when things go wrong
its Courteous whom I blame;
but its Grace who sees me through it.

Lord, have mercy!

I just lost one of my sports heroes today (Gary Speed) through an apparent suicide.

Lord, have mercy.

Makes you wonder what they are thinking, doesn't it?

May the Lord shelter all who battle the oppression of suicidal thoughts,  may He be their light at their darkest hour, May He battle for them the forces of hate and messangers of despair.

Psalm 70

1Hasten, O God, to save me;

O Lord, come quickly to help me.

2May those who seek my life

be put to shame and confusion;

may all who desire my ruin

be turned back in disgrace.

3May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”

turn back because of their shame.

4But may all who seek you

rejoice and be glad in you;

may those who love your salvation always say,

“Let God be exalted!”

5Yet I am poor and needy;

come quickly to me, O God.

You are my help and my deliverer;

O Lord, do not delay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

psalm 71

1In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge;

let me never be put to shame.

2Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness;

turn your ear to me and save me.

3Be my rock of refuge,

to which I can always go;

give the command to save me,

for you are my rock and my fortress.

4Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,

from the grasp of evil and cruel men.

5For you have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord,

my confidence since my youth.

6From birth I have relied on you;

you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.

I will ever praise you.

7I have become like a portent to many,

but you are my strong refuge.

8My mouth is filled with your praise,

declaring your splendor all day long.

9Do not cast me away when I am old;

do not forsake me when my strength is gone.

10For my enemies speak against me;

those who wait to kill me conspire together.

11They say, “God has forsaken him;

pursue him and seize him,

for no one will rescue him.”

12Be not far from me, O God;

come quickly, O my God, to help me.

13May my accusers perish in shame;

may those who want to harm me

be covered with scorn and disgrace.

14But as for me, I will always have hope;

I will praise you more and more.

15My mouth will tell of your righteousness,

of your salvation all day long,

though I know not its measure.

16I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord;

I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.

17Since my youth, O God, you have taught me,

and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.

18Even when I am old and gray,

do not forsake me, O God,

till I declare your power to the next generation,

your might to all who are to come.

19Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God,

you who have done great things.

Who, O God, is like you?

20Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter,

you will restore my life again;

from the depths of the earth

you will again bring me up.

21You will increase my honor

and comfort me once again.

22I will praise you with the harp

for your faithfulness, O my God;

I will sing praise to you with the lyre,

O Holy One of Israel.

23My lips will shout for joy

when I sing praise to you—

I, whom you have redeemed.

24My tongue will tell of your righteous acts

all day long,

for those who wanted to harm me

have been put to shame and confusion.

Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit both now and ever and unto the ages of ages amen!
To God be the Glory in all things! Amen!

Only pray for me, that God would give me both inward and outward strength, that I may not only speak, but truly will; and that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one. St.Ignatius of Antioch.Epistle to the Romans.

Lord, have mercy.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
