Book Recommendations
« on: November 14, 2011, 03:18:35 AM »
Hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you are familiar with the Homilies of St. John Chrysostom, I was just curious if there are any complete full volumes available that contain all of them, at least on the New Testament, or if there are any good sites other than amazon where I could find them. So far I have only seen books that contain the homilies on say two or three books of the NT at a time but never the whole thing and I cannot find the homilies on every book of the NT. So, I've been having a bit of a hassle hunting them all down and trying to get them for a good price. I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations or something.

This is a link from the St. Vladimir's Seminary online catalog...it should give you plenty of options of books that you're looking for, and then you can order one from the appropriate publisher.

Avoid reading books published by Regina Orthodox Press, unless your priest specifically mentions one.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
Writings from the Philokalia: On Prayer of the Heart,

If you go to Google Books and search for St. John Chrysostom, they should have pdf or epub files of the major sermon collections. They're free.  If you can't find them, some e-book stores will have them.

Please consider posting some of those links here.
