Dwight "Heavy D" Myers, a Jamaican-American rap artist known for a string of hit singles and albums in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as television appearances and theme songs, has passed away at the age of 44.

The rapper was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles earlier this afternoon and was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. PT. Police are investigating his death but there are no signs of foul play.

May his memory be eternal.  I wasn't a huge fan, but I did enjoy his music and how he kept his lyrics lighter and more fun.
