Bible Version?
« on: November 03, 2011, 06:10:24 PM »
Which Bible version is recommended by the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox canons? I have heard KJV and whereas I'm a fan of it, I don't know if it's spiritually accurate as it has Protestant origins. Thanks for your time.

There are no officially recognized English translations.

If you like the KJV style, there is an online translation of the Orthodox Old Testament in the style of the KJV:

Hopefully a printed edition of this will come out eventually.

I would say the KJV's New Testament has no serious problems for Orthodox, so if you like that version the best stick with it.

For printed Bibles, I would say the Orthodox Study Bible (with both testaments), while far from perfect, is probably our best option overall at the moment.

When a time revolts against eternity, the only thing to set against it is genuine eternity itself, and not some other time which has already roused, and not without reason, a violent reaction against itself.
