There can be no sectarianism in truth seeking

Ten years ago today, one of the greatest teachers of the modern Church, Fr. John Romanides, reposed in the Lord.

May the Lord remember Fr John's priesthood in His Kingdom!

I remember when this happened...I felt as if I had lost a very dear teacher.

I also remember the gloating one Catholic poster (not on this site) had upon hearing this news, 'certain' that Fr John was having to apologise for defending the Orthodox Church as well as he did. May the Lord forgive that person as well!

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;

Memory Eternal.

I admire him for not compromising his strict Orthodox traditionalist background while keeping an open mind for engaging in dialogue with the OO Churches.  Some may disagree with many of his intentions in other teachings, but that does not take away from his loyalty and dedication as a priest of God to the Orthodox faith and to the Church, and to me, he stands in a long line of patristics.

May he pray for us all.
