Indonesia: mental health patients kept in shackles
« on: October 31, 2011, 10:01:54 PM »
A shocking practice has been found in use against some mental health patients in Indonesia. Instead of medicine or other therapies, they are subject to chains and shackles.

From the article:
Quote
For years Sukidi's family shackled his feet because of his problems.

Like many who use such methods, his family comes from a poor background with only minimum access to health care services.

Sukidi was only brought to hospital after neighbours and village officials intervened.

Lord have mercy.  :'(
My only weakness is, well, never mind

And you'll sleep, but they'll find you

Come back my dream into my arms, into my arms

London is drowning, and I live by the river
