The new building-to-be of
St. Kyrillos Orthodox Church has been given approval for construction, in Hatfield Township, Pennsylvania. The parish has rented a nearby Baptist church during the wait.

Copts in parts of Egypt have faced highly-publicized, violent persecution from groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood. The church’s supporters say it will provide a safe place for Egyptian immigrants who have come to parts of Eastern Montgomery County, including Hatfield and Lansdale, in growing numbers.
The roughly $3 million project is expected to get under way early in 2012 as fundraising efforts continue.
