These have been written for the St Mark Orthodox Fellowship - http://www.smofonline.org/ - a well established Christian charitable organisation working to promote the Orthodox Faith.

Another thing, Father.
In your 3rd example in Part II concerning Proclus, are you implying that general bishops may be nominated?
Or is this dependent on whether, if there were an ecumenical synod, general bishops would participate?

I think that it is not clear what a General Bishop is in our present circumstances. It would help if that were clarified to begin with.

If a General Bishop is actually acting as a Diocesan Bishop then I think that he becomes rather like St Gregory Nazianzen rather than Proclus. In that he has become too much associated with a particular Diocesan ministry. I think that Proclus would be rather more like a titular bishop serving the Patriarchal see directly but clearly not being Diocesan. In the case of Proclus he was a famous preacher in Constantinople and clearly provided that ministry, but he was not actually acting all the time as a bishop, even though he was given that sort of honorary respect.
