How would I go about changing my username?  Is there a way that I can do it myself or do I need to contact a specific moderator?

I love your name, too.  I admire your thick skin and wish I had some of that myself.

While my name reflects how I look -- odd, awkward and brown -- it wasn't that well thought out.  Even us lowly animals can aspire to greatness, no?
