The continuing economic crisis in Greece has led increasing numbers of people to consider the worst: ending it all. With many unable to afford basic needs such as rent and food, it can seem as if there is no hope. Health professionals and hotlines are under greater pressure than ever.

       Last month the Greek Minister for Health, Andreas Loverdos, reported that suicides may have increased by as much as 40% in the first few months of 2011.
       "In reality it is very likely that those figures are much higher," says psychologist Dr Eleni Bekiari, who works at Klimaka.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy.

There have been a lot of suicides, and murder-suicides recently here in the USA.
People are losing hope.

Yep, one more gay, depressed teenager just committed suicide in Canada.
