Favorite beer...

I saw there was one of these threads back in 2004, but its time for another.  As a community of believers, it is very important that we discuss these things.

For me, right now id have to say Dogfish Punkin.  Other than that, Guinness is always a safe bet.  Truthfully, I probably have hundreds of favorite beers...

I can't even tell you how many picky drinkers I've converted with this. It is absolutely delicious and amazing and I've stopped drinking the commercialized sugary drinks because of it. I am sola lambic (with the occasional champagne, white wine, and hard cider thrown in).

I'll put Mr. Ismi's favorites, since he is a beer lover. Hailing from Boston, he remains loyal to Sam Adams. He also likes Yuengling and St. Pauli's Girl....and the case of Czech beer that my father brings him every time he visits. (Can't remember which two types they are, though). However, he tries new stuff all the time and so I don't really know what his favorites are at the moment. But if he's defaulting, it's usually Sam Adams.

Ive never had lambic.  Ive seen it at stores and was always curious.  My wife HATES beer, except mikes hard lemonade and some hard ciders, so maybe this is something I should get for her to try.

I had the rochefort the other day.  It didnt have a price next to it at the pub i was at.  turned out it ran me close to $18. haha. it was delicious, but had i known it was that much i wouldnt have tried it!

It is relatively expensive, though. Not for people who want more than 3 or 4 glasses at a time. Mr. Ismi lets me have the bottles to myself because he knows that if he joins me, he's going to finish 3/4ths of the bottle very quickly. I buy him whiskey to make him feel better (poor baby  ).

Let me know what your wife thinks if you get a chance to try it.

I wonder whether there are any Orthodox monasteries that brew fine dark beer? As good as Roman Catholic beers are I'd rather have my beer without any papal infallability.

Ayinger Hefeweisen.  All other beers are inferior.  Ayinger Hefeweisen is the only beer that contains no trace amounts estrogen.

If you are in the mood to take a trip back in time there is always Weienstephaner, the worlds oldest still operating brewery.  The Orthodox and Catholics were still together when they were founded.

Schlenkerla Rauchbier is also pretty good, though you need to drink it with smoked meats, and preferably with another beer or two before hand to prepare you for it.

I actually tasted this for the first time on last tuesday. It was indeed pretty good once I got over the associations to smoked salmon.

Some of these look really good! Unfortunately, it's hard to find such good stuff here in Mississippi. As for my favorite, it's definitely Guinness; not that I can afford to drink it very often. As for my favorite style of beer, I'm very fond of ales.

Red Tail Ale, this is  a flagship beer for a legendary california brewery, the taste, texture, color, head, buzz, is superb, there is absolutely no defect in this beer.

 I call this my "all-natural health drink"

**note** surely some folks are going to point out that many Rastafari do not consume alcohol, and this is true.  However a) I come from the Twelve Tribes of Israel mansion where we do allow alcoholic consumption much to the criticism of other mansions and b) as practiced the nazarite vow for nearly 8 years the last time I had my locks like Samson, and I was more devoutly abstinent from alcohol than the Ayatollah, and in this regard I put in my work, so these I enjoy me a beer or four from time to time, but always in the spirit of fellowship and celebration of the gift of life from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I was going to say, I would switch beer for your fruity lambic.

We inherited (I use that term very loosely) a trunk packed with "specialty" beers (not sure how special they are -- I spot some familiar ones in there), which are 4 years past their expiration date. I looked at Mr. Ismi and said, "Who does that? Who keeps a bottle of Sam Adams for years?"

There are some stuff in there that he said he hasn't seen before. But what good is it going to do him? We had to make a trip tonight. This thread was making me thirsty!
