Six people are dead following a shooting at a salon in Seal Beach, California.

From the article:

Sgt Bowles said a suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting.

"The officers identified the [suspect's] vehicle as it was leaving the location," Sgt Bowles said. "They followed it and made a traffic stop and took the driver into custody."

I'm trying to figure out two things.

a) why have I just heard from this hear, when I live not too far from there

and

b) why is so wrong with Los Angeles that we have such a problem with violence? We've talked about this before it other threads, but LA shames me sometimes
