What does this say??
« on: September 30, 2011, 01:27:57 PM »
I bought this icon at the Greek festival yesterday, along with Rublev's Trinity, and i wanted to see if anyone could tell me what this says at the top...

Even if we have thousands of acts of great virtue to our credit, our confidence in being heard must be based on God's mercy and His love for men. Even if we stand at the very summit of virtue, it is by mercy that we shall be saved.

"The Resurrection"
Quote from: Fr. Thomas Hopko, dystopian parable of the prodigal son
...you can imagine so-called healing services of the pigpen. The books that could be written, you know: Life in the Pigpen. How to Cope in the Pigpen. Being Happy in the Pigpen. Surviving in the Pigpen. And then there could be counselling, for people who feel unhappy in the pigpen, to try to get them to come to terms with the pigpen, and to accept the pigpen.

Don't worry. It doesn't say "A Visit to Purgatory" or something like that.  ;D

"H ANASTASIS" (heh ah-NAh-stah-cees), The Resurrection!

Beautiful Paschal icon. :)

That's a beautiful and popular icon. Most churches will have it or a variation.
My only weakness is, well, never mind

And you'll sleep, but they'll find you

Come back my dream into my arms, into my arms

London is drowning, and I live by the river
