So as some people probably know I recently talked about making a blog and I have decided to do something about it. Besides posting pictures and my own thoughts I would like to make something about Orthodoxy. I am thinking about having some daily scripture readings together with the lives of the saints. Since many orthodox christians in Denmark are using the old calendar (russians, serbians etc.) I would like to have scripture readings for both calendars so that everybody will be able to use it. I would like to know some of you have any suggestions about what else to make. There aren't really much orthodox information in danish so I would like to make something that could make it a little easier for inquiers (as well as anybody, orthodox or not) who would like to explore orthodoxy. I also plan to have some links to some of the websites that I have found especially helpful in my own exploration of orthodoxy. But if you have any ideas I would like to know. Please share some of your infinite wisdom with me  |

With blogs, I think the key is to make sure your subject is specific - when blogs have a too diverse range, they tend to peter out because too many other websites are carrying the same content as the blog, and those websites get all the traffic.
Is a blog on Orthodoxy a specific enough subject? Probably not! But being in the Danish language will make it niche enough, and if there really is a lack of Danish language Orthodox content on the Internet, then things should go well.
Stick with the calendar for now, and post lives of the Saints, but also the synaxarion for Feast Days too. That way you can post sermons for the feast days, and saints days where they exist, translating them into Danish if needs be.
Definitely have links to the websites you found useful, but if you found specific writings particularly useful then perhaps you could translate those into Danish first. These could be your "inquirers articles".
Just my thoughts.

I use this for a menologian on my blog. It gives you the current date with the Julian date in parenthesis, and it gives you an option to have it in Russian or English. For the inquirers I would look around the net for information (there is a ton of it) and translate that into Danish (with permission of copyrighted material, of course). Also, I would post pictures of Orthodox churches so those not familiar with Orthodoxy can get a good look, also some video (if you can) so they can hear the Liturgy. I would go with the pictures idea. You have some good plans already, and it would be nice to see them augmented with photos of the real places. |

I would include many, many cute animals, especially cats. People surfing the web like cats, second only to porn, which would be controversial to say the least for a religious themed blog. It just boggles my mind that humanity has used this wonderful tool of the Internet to conduct lots of research on porn.  |

Please share some of your infinite wisdom with me Depending on how often you plan on updating it, weekly sunday readings along with some commentary and an icon that is appropriate to the subject of the readings might not be a bad idea. It's just a thought. |
