Yes, they are reporting:
Accusing the immensely popular game of "possessing the minds" of children while promoting Zionism and gambling, Saudi Arabia's Higher Committee for Scientific Research and Islamic Law issued the fatwa, or religious verdict, this weekend.

http://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=81345&page=1 How old is this article, anyway? I can remember Pokémon from the mid to late 90's, yet the article says the Pokémon phenomenon started with a Nintendo game only three years ago.

Ground attacks aren't very effective against Saudis. Got a Bulbasaur/Squirtle?

Haha, very fair enough. It's been more than 10 years since I played Pokemon. I always loved Squirtle. You couldn't pay me to pick Bulbasaur or Charmander.

I never really got into the newer seasons of Pokemon, for some reason or another. Besides, if I bought newer ones, I'd have to buy whatever hand-held device Nintendo has now. I'm still using a Game Boy Advance SP!

At one point, not too long I suppose, after he and my mom divorced, he was stationed in Japan (in fact, we - my sisters, mom, and I - were about to move to Japan to join him when he called my mom and said he wanted a divorce). For my birthday, or something else (it's been a lot of years, I don't recall exactly), he sent me a couple of things one of which was Pokemon Green version. Unfortunately for me, it was all in Japanese. Fortunately for me, I had played enough other Pokemon games to have a basic understanding of what to do, even though I didn't understand any of the words - though I never did finish Green version, or really get that far. However, I did in fact own a copy of it, at one time.

Why when I was a kid we had proper cards, like Topps and Upper Deck with famous athletes not cartoon characters. I'd walk in the snow barefoot, uphill both ways, to the gocery store to buy then for 25 cents a pack; even came with stale bubble gum to gave me sustinance for the long walk back.
You kids today with your "ipods" and your "internets" just wouldn't understand. And another thing, stay off my lawn!

Hey, I bought Topps and Upper Deck too, with basketball players. I had boxes of them under my bed, for goodness knows what reason, since none of my friends liked sports the way I did. Hoarder much?

All this basketball business is making me question if that "wondering" during HS didn't more truth to it.

We cannot legislate morality by passing laws controlling firearms. The only evil we can combat lies within our hearts. We need stronger laws to protect the moral foundation of society against the evil of gay marriage.

I have two choice words for you that I will not post here.

Well, Orthie, better decide on those last words. My mastery of I Ching has shown me that you will push this and she's gonna put a cap in your donkey with an "almost .50".

It is an education process for me as I learn about the psychology of spiritual apostasy. And others get the benefit of perhaps hearing righteousness for the first time.

One day you'll find me on that hoarders show for sure, drives my wife crazy! I still have sealed boxes of Desert Storm I trading cards. I thought they'd surely make me rich.

I'll probably more likely get a shot in his right pinkie, if I'm lucky. Just thought I would get my opinion on the record. Is all.

The serious discussion was moved to the Non-Religious Topics.

A light-hearted discussion turned serious, rather than vice versa. Who knew it was possible?
