A dispute over the salary cap and players' share of revenues may scuttle the NBA's upcoming season, just weeks before it is due to start. The U.S. league may head into a lockout if the player's union and the team owners can't reach an agreement. From the article: Deputy commissioner Adam Silver said: "We have regretfully reached the point on the calendar where we are not able to open training camps on time."
No more talks have been scheduled but both sides said they hope to meet again next week.

Can't the owners just hire people off the street?

Why not? From all those midnight basketball leagues created by Clinton (remember that was part of his brilliant strategy to reduce crime), the owners should be able to find some good street ball talent for the courts.

Why? Does someone at home tie you to the couch and force you to watch NBA games?

^I can't speak for the person that wrote the initial thought, but with no NBA basketball at least there won't be any broadcasting of what the NBA thinks basket ball is--a lot of scoring, phantom fouls and no defense.

I didn't know white people knew of the NBA except some stars and one guy I know.
Every other white person is straight college.
Only the black folks I know are NBA fans.
Oh, and my Priest.
So I know two white guys into the NBA.
Silly sport all the same. I am with montalo.

Would it surprise you to know that I was a hardcore NBA/WNBA fan in my childhood (basketball player was the first of many desired careers and I played on two leagues)? And I am sooo white.
