As my classmates and I walked into the data communications classroom earlier today and waited, the head of the computer science department came in and informed us that our professor, Dr. Richard O'Lander passed away unexpectedly yesterday. We were all shocked because we only saw him last week and he looked pretty well. None of us saw this coming. Class was cancelled and we may get a replacement next week.

For me, not only he was my data comm professor, he was also my computer science mentor for the next 3 years. He was a good man, a nice role model, and a very constructive professor. All we can do is pray for his soul to find peace in the presence of God in eternity. My condolences go out to his family and all of those who knew him well.

May the memory of my awesome professor Dr. O'Lander be eternal. +

God be merciful to us sinners.

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.” +Luke 6:27-29
