After 15 albums and three decades, rockers R.E.M. call it a day
« on: September 21, 2011, 06:25:42 PM »
"Beside yourself if radio's gonna stay": You won't hear those words many more times, not live, at least. Georgia-based rockers R.E.M. have split up, after fifteen studio albums, countless shows and about 31 years together.

From the article:
Quote
The group was originally made up of singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and Bill Berry, who left the band in 1997.

"I hope our fans realise this wasn't an easy decision; but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way," Stipe said as he announced the split.
He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have no end.

So do I.  They were Out of Time a long time ago. Their retirement is long overdue.

YES! YES!!! FINALLY!!! Stipe's ghastly, whiny vocals, and their pretentious songs (Night Swimming, anyone?  :P :P) were like fingernails down a blackboard. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
