Orthodox Church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright marks 50 years
« on: September 21, 2011, 06:18:47 PM »
This is the fiftieth year of operation for the Greek Orthodox parish of Annunciation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The church has something else to celebrate: its highly original design crafted by architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

From the article:
Quote
To mark the 50th anniversary of the building's completion, the church is inviting the public in for a rare look around and an event featuring John U. Ottenheimer, Wright's representative and the construction supervisor on the project.

Annunciation is rarely open to the public, as the church makes the needs of its congregation a priority.
He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have no end.

Dang, that looks like a spaceship has touched down!

Just because a famous architect designs a church doesn't mean it has to be a monstrosity!

Chicago's OCA Holy Trinity Cathedral was designed by famous architect Louis Sullivan. It looks like a church and is open for tours, as well.
