Rerun of The Mary Tyler Moore show, the one where Ted and Georgette get married by John Ritter. :-)

I saw the premiere of "The American's" on the FX channel.

I liked it. The twist is that the central characters are Soviet Spies, the story is told from their perspective.

A Soviet defector (1981) informs the FBI that there is a net work of Russian spies deeply imbedded into the United State. "They speak English better than you do"  The spies next door.

These two are married with kids.. It rips off the Movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith".... Cook breakfast, get the kids to the bus, run a dangerous mission, come home, do laundry.

The kids are not aware the Parents are spies and an FBI counter intel agent coincidentally moves in next door. He get suspicious quickly. But the twist is that you root for the Russian spies not for the FBI.

Anyway, we needed a decent Spy Show. The genera has been dead for years on TV. It has some very explicit sex scenes that go a step too far imho. They were unnecessary. But all in all a very very good show.

No. I won't get into this anymore as I've already alluded around here why the zombie genre took a turn for the worse sometime ago. Really, I just couldn't believe how bad the show was.

The Walking Dead is Sex in the City for unimaginative men.

Biro, there is nothing cute about it. I took a look at it, since must stay aware of such cultural stuff and sometimes I get all surprised and find something quite lovely.

I would suggest you skip to episode three or so (the abortion episode) and let me know if you didn't vomit.

Perhaps privileged 20-something Manhattanens behave exactly like this show depicts them, well there are plenty things in the world which are grotesque no one needs to see much less laud.

Obscene subject matter (and really ask folks who "know me" here, I have a high bar for the obscene), acting more vacant than a heroin addict just before they go into respiratory arrest, writing which makes the US Tax Code seem inspired, and an aesthetic more bland the packaging Ramen comes in.

Who's your favorite Doctor? You like classic stuff at all, or are you strictly New Who?

I haven't seen any of the classic Doctor Who episodes, but I'd love to watch some as soon as I'm all caught up on my new Doctor.  #9 will always be my favorite!

9 was good. I'm more of an 11 man myself. The link I gave might be a decent place to start if you want to get into the classics. City of Death, written by the great Douglas Adams, is on Netflix and was also very good.

Do you mean Heroes in general, or past the first season?

I do really enjoy the show. The first season was great, but I don't entirely understand the negativity toward the others - even after reading several such reviews. I went into the next seasons with the realization that the quality would drop, and I must say that I don't think season 2 and 3 are bad at all. The fourth does seem like it might be substantially worse though.

The Walking Dead  *SPOILERS*

...

..

.

Is there anything that didn't go wrong this week?

1) Tyrese got booted (for now)
2) Daryl left (for now)
3) Michone is possibly getting booted
4) Glenn ain't too happy and is apparently planning on taking matters into his own hands
5) The Govenor seems like he's ready to lay the smack down
6) Andrea is still deluded and wants to make the whole Woodbury thing work
7) Rick done gone crazy again, but worse this time

Some stupid show involving mothers of small children where every third or fourth word is censored and their faces look like an 4th grade art project gone horribly wrong.  The level society has fallen is farther than I ever expected.  Disgusting.  And the bad part is this is what people watch and emulate.

Just a good post in general.  I disagree with the zombie genre being overdone as Walking Dead is not through yet.  Then it might be time to put a fork in it.  But knowing that I am Legend was a book first...  I really like the plot twist to it.  If you keep in mind that G'Night Shamalan wasn't even a gleam in his daddy's eye when it was written you get a sense for how original it was.

EDIT...and thus, Walking Dead is pretty much wishful thinking/educational!

Some stupid show involving mothers of small children where every third or fourth word is censored and their faces look like an 4th grade art project gone horribly wrong.  The level society has fallen is farther than I ever expected.  Disgusting.  And the bad part is this is what people watch and emulate.

I've seen one of those mothers-taining-daughters-to-be-strippers beauty pagent shows or whatever once.  Yeah.  As a culture, I think we're pretty well over.

What is this 'culture' you speak of? Tongue

EDIT...and thus, Walking Dead is pretty much wishful thinking/educational!

I'd rather play Plants vs. Zombies...

It is an education process for me as I learn about the psychology of spiritual apostasy. And others get the benefit of perhaps hearing righteousness for the first time.

We have a culture.  It's based on a lot of different things, but so are many others.  But alas, I think it's over.

Sure! Don't you want to see this little girl talking about her pageant experience(s)!?

Pretty much everything you enjoy.

Really, Europeans make me laugh with their antiquated notions of their importance or of their cultures'.

Europe is an amusement park for Americans and their wacky spin-off, the Japanese, and the made straight for AirAsia in flight viewing series, the rest of the "far" East.

If you reply using the internet, or Heaven forbid, include an emoticon, you prove my point.

Except for yoga, ballet, Thanassis Veggos, Imiskoubria, Mediterranean cuisine... oh, and Orthodoxy.

Laugh away. It improves longevity.

Yeah, but we take everything "you people" invent and commercialize it.  American culture is stronger because it can digest anything the rest of the world produces and make it acceptable for the hoi polloi.

Nothing you would have access to or understand without Americanism.

Enjoy.

Something digested might be acceptable as fertilizer. Is that what you're getting at?  Wink Roll Eyes

American TV runs from magnificent to mediocre to .... well, you know.
