Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It's mostly a clumsy mess, but it has rare and pretty random moments of brilliance that confuse me.

Watched the second part of the first season. It's still mainly crap but has just enough interesting bits to excuse further watching.  The dialogue continues to be really uneven and the plot is rushed and incoherent, with lots of pointless diversions and wasted opportunities. The conclusion felt like warmed-over, second-rate Buffy. The ham-fisted identity politics preaching feels more like marketing than sincere conviction and I don't think it will age well. Also Sabrina's cat familiar Salem does pretty much nothing at all. I think the writers kept forgetting the cat existed and then wrote in some perfunctory bits for him at the last minute. On the plus side Sabrina's two aunties are great and the sets, costumes, and photography are beautiful, which I suspect is the main reason surface-oriented critics are giving the show such glowing reviews.

Caroll O'Connor's role as Chief Gillespie was brilliant.

For the record, Good Omens is absolutely brilliant. Repeated viewing necessary to unpick all the references. We binged the entire run on Sunday, and we're going to watch again, one by one.

When I posted that I didn't even know a new season was right around the corner. Came out today and I binge-watched it. I got misty-eyed at the end, so that's something I suppose. 8)

Static Shock. A superhero kid's cartoon that's a lot of fun. Pretty lighthearted but tackles some serious issues in very clear, non-coded ways. This includes explicit and often positive references to religion, which is great because it's often a bummer when media excessively ignores or demonizes the religious aspect of life.

Moving through a few episodes of Poldark. I think it's a BBC/PBS show, but on Amazon Prime it's to my leisure. 2 eps in, pretty good. My spouse and I are prudes at this level of drama. No GoT, Spartacus, etc, so this period piece is quite nice.

Rape is a big theme in this, but as far as I can remember, it doesn't take place on-screen.

First episode of Mr. Robot was excellent. It's a shame so few people are watching it (according to the ratings).

I liked Season 1 of "Killing Eve" but not Season 2.  I thought towards the end of Season 2 Eve herself was not true to her character established in Season 1.

Is The Witcher any good?  I'm on the fence.

Generally speaking, I think it's worth watching some episodes to see what you think, especially if you like medieval magic & swords fantasy. The main overarching problem for some people is going to be that this entire season can come off feeling like set-up rather than the meat of a story. A lot of the material, and the general framework, of the episodes are from a volume of short stories; basically it's just spending time establishing the characters and universe while telling disparate stories: there are some storylines that hold from episode to episode, but also a bit of monster/problem-of-the-week stuff. It won't be until season 2 that they actually dive into the 5-book-long "saga."

Cons:
- a few instances of them being written into a corner and ignoring what they'd already established because the plot required something
- there's something (spoilery) about the finale that I found frustrating
- lots of gratuitous nudity
- a couple instances of dorm room philosophizing, but shot/edited as if it's supposed to be taken seriously
- some gratuitous violence (e.g., someone is already dying/dead, but they cut off the head anyway), but not as much as Game of Thrones imo
- most of the episodes follow 3 storylines, and if you're not invested in all three characters then it can make for an uneven viewing experience
- spoilery, but confused some and might help watching: |not all scenes take place at the same time: they can be years or even decades apart from one another|
- a few instances of cgi creatures were not quite there yet
- some instances of bawdy humor
- some of the dialogue mixed in modern our-world idioms, which seemed out of place
- some of the scripts needed certain keywords trimmed significantly (especially "destiny")

Pros:
- good acting performances, especially by the main cast and a couple recurring characters
- there's about three minutes of sword fighting in one ep. that is now probably my favorite in fiction (sorry, Princess Bride)
- good music, including a catchy one "in show" by a lute-playing character
- does a good job establishing the basics of who these characters are and what type of world this is
- they reportedly spent 8-9 million per episode for this, and in most ways it shows (for comparison, early GOT got 6-8 million per ep.)
- the episodes weren't equally good across the board, but they were all at least decent and the season ended about when it felt right to

If you do end up giving this a chance, I'd suggest watching at least 2 episodes before deciding to stop. One of the main characters isn't even introduced till the 2nd episode, and the first episode feels like it is in some ways still trying to find its footing.

The Incredible Hulk

Nostalgia. I hate the whole superhero genre, but I always liked this show growing up. The acting is very good, and the theme is very poignant. But the show fails in the same way that most superhero movies and shows fail: it sacrifices dramatic build up and character development in order to jump right to the action. But it's much better than most superhero films and shows in that regard. I just wish it would have trusted the actors and the overall theme more.

^^Nice review, thanks!!  I'll at least save it to my list.  Maybe I just need to be in the right mood.
I just finished the 3rd episode.  I like it.  But yes, definitely need to be in the right mood.  It's not as compelling as the games, though.  I only remember the basic gist, but to me, the characters were more memorable in the games than they are in the show.
Is any of the above Orthodox?  I have no idea, so there’s that.

Pray for me, a sinner.

I watched and sometimes enjoyed the Witcher, but man, is it trash. "It's just escapist fantasy fun"- okay, but even escapist fantasy fun can be great with a little bit of thoughtfulness that is missing here. The writers also demonstrated a pretty poor command of English at times, even though I'm sure they're native speakers.
