I like the horse, but California Chrome was just not a good enough horse to win the Triple Crown. His times on the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness were ok, but definitely not earthshattering.

I'm no horse-racer, but isn't that the idea -- to win the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness by just enough?

Nostalgia wise, if anyone remembers the Muppet spinoff, I have been watching "Muppet Babies" on YouTube. I think my favourite is Animal (because of how funny he is) and Gonzo. Poor Gonzo and his love for Piggy. She is such a, well the opposite sex of what Raolf is in medical terms. Anyone who grew up in the 90s remember "Legends of Hidden Temple" and "GUTS"? Been watching that, to I used to think Omac was real and the temple guards real. Strange now looking at them thinking Omac is just some guy talking in a microphone and the temple guards some guy dressed up likely not making very much money and in his 20s.

I am taking a break from TV.  Don't even have it connected.  It's been 2 months now and yet I still know pretty much what is going on out in the world (like Kim Kardashian got married . . .do I care?  NO!)

Was almost obsessively watching Big Bang Theory every night and other sitcoms so I have put myself in "timeout" for a while.

So here's a question I have about that there show called The Walking Dead. If I understand/remember correctly, it was established in the first season that when someone dies that all brain function stops. Then, when they come back, there is very limited and rudimentary activity at the base of the brain (I forget the term for the region), but very little activity elsewhere. I'm curious then, if this is so, why does damage anywhere to the head seemingly cause immediate and unstoppable deaths? Even living humans can suffer serious injuries to the brain and, with luck, survive. Some people have even lost huge chunks of their brain and still lived fairly normal lives. Yet these zombies take something like an arrow to the edge of the head and their toast every time? Thoughts? Is it just something you accept and go along with? Or am I missing something?

If you consider Anime as included in TV shows then I'm currently watching Isshuukan Friends. I like how the show revolves around Friendship and the storybook Visuals of the Opening and Closing theme. It is the best of Anime I have watched this year.

They got to give Martin more time to write books.  If you are lucky, your children will tell you how it ends when you're in the nursing home.

Pssht. I don't need any stupid story lines.  Just film 30 episodes of people slaughtering each other, people dreaming up schemes and dragons flying around. No one would even realize that it wasn't following the book and then when the next book is done, they could just pick up where they left off.

I'm trying to figure out if House reminds me more of orthonorm, or Dostoevsky's underground man. I suppose we all are insane in different ways though, so why distort and ruin things by forcing comparisons.

Animal is the best, grown up and baby. With Gonzo.

Did Muppet Babies make up the Gonzo-crush-on-Piggy thing, or did that have a basis in earlier works?

Yeah, the crush on Piggy was big in the show and Piggy of course was a little...well you know the word for what she was. She really was just a little brat in the show. Poor Gonzo.

EDIT: Oh, did they make it up in Muppet Babies? I think it was in the earlier shows, but Wiki says it was minor. I think Muppet Babies really made it a big part of the show. I never really watched the Muppets a lot but I never remember Gonzo crushing on Piggy. It was a huge part of Muppet Babies though, so while I know it is not an invention of Muppet Babies, it was really made bigger in Muppet Babies.

Started Season 2 of "Under the Dome."  The first episode of this season was written by Stephen King himself and I was actually pleased for a little while.  THen the second episode came and it was back to being flat.  I really didn't think this series needed more than one season on TV; if the writing continues to be this abysmal by the fifth episode, then CBS needs to pull it.
