Hello everyone!
I wanted to extend to everyone here on OC.net an invitation to attend my reception into the Holy Orthodox church on the feast of the Dormitiion (New Calendar) August 15th at 10am.
It is at Holy Transfiguration OCA in Raleigh, NC.
I would be honored if any could attend. If anyone is interested, they can email me for directions and specifics.
But most of all, I would like your prayers!
Robert

Well thank God -- congrats, Cap'n! Sorry I won't be able to make it -- living in TX as I do.... And the avatar. Funny stuff!

I'll definately see you there. So far, I know of at least seven OC.net members who will be there so maybe that will count as the Summerfest.

I wish I could be there. It sure would be nice to get a break from the chaos that will be Greece for the Olympic games. What a wonderful day to be received into the church, Mary's death and subsequent resurrection being a reflection of what we experience in baptism. Congratulations Cap'n

We'd love to, but we are pretty much living hand to mouth at the moment and have no way of saving up money for such a trip. We're just about to fix up our bathroom which is going to take all our current savings. Glory be to God, we always have everything we need

All the best,

Just bought a junk car, if it is still running on the 15th, maybe I'll drive down... haven't been to Raleigh yet... must check it out.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Sorry, Cap'n, no can do. I'll still here in eastern OH/western PA for the rest of the summer, and Raleigh is a bit of a drive for me, and I'm trying to save flying money for a trip to visit my kum in Florida.
You have my prayers, though. Many, many years!

Congratulations! You will be in my prayers. (What will your Christian name be?) I climbed into the Ark of Salvation on the eve of Dormition, in 1977.

Best news I've read in a long while, Roberto. Unfortunately I just returned from a 12 day trip to VA Beach and Raleigh visiting family and I know Mrs. A will never let me escape the farm (alone) again so soon.

I deleted my post and Demetri's response because I reread it and realized it could be taken one of two ways. anastasios

Congrats, Cap'n. Since I'm in Washington state, I won't be able to make it. I recommend the Pacific NW as a post-reception vacation if you can take one -- it's amazingly beautiful in the summer. Congratulations, again!
