The axe that Father Sullivan grinds is women as priests.  He thinks there's no reason why they should not be and so he challenges all magisterial authority in order to shim the door open for his pet project.

Did you just make that up? Faher Sullivan has said that the papal declaration banning women priests did not meet the requirements for infallibility. But where did he ever say that there is no reason why women should not be priests?

careful, you're going to chock on that stuff.
Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.

Better that than what some of your co-religionists are setting up to choke on.

perhaps EM has another axe she is grinding, using Fr. Sullivan as a whetstone.

Actually, we have very serious LGBT issues to contend with.  As an example we have the pious "Union of Orthodox Banner-Bearers"  which engages in beating up and hospitalising members of the LGBT community.   I see that this type of pro-Orthodox activity in support of orthodox morality is now spreading to Serbia.

The Church approves this interaction with LGBT people on the part of her faithful youth since on 16th August His Holiness Patriarch Kiril awarded the Order of Saint Seraphim to the Supreme Commander of the ""Union of Orthodox Banner-Bearers"  Simonovich-Nikshich

I'm not a little horrified by this. Are there any English articles about this? Has anyone spoken against it?

Here is the site of the Banner-Bearers
http://www.pycckie.org/

If you cannot read Russian, browsing the photo galleries will give you a clear enough idea of their Orthodox phronema - hatred of Jews, sodomists, and anybody not Russian enough.   Brother Nathanial in the US pales in comparison.

Metropolitan Hilarion has made his position known.  He believes this type of organisation is hindering the message of the Church is its work of transforming society.

http://en.hilarion.orthodoxia.org/6_8

This is an excellent 'talk' by Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev.)  Apart from the article's intrinsic worth the last paragraph impinges on this topic we have discussed a little.

"The second danger is that of militant Orthodoxy, which would be a post-atheist counterpart of militant atheism. I mean an Orthodoxy that fights against Jews, against masons, against democracy, against Western culture, against enlightenment. This type of Orthodoxy is being preached even by some key members of the hierarchy, and it has many supporters within the Church. This kind of Orthodoxy, especially if it gains the support of the State, may force Russian atheism to withdraw temporarily to the catacombs. But Russian atheism, will not be vanquished until the transfiguration of the soul and the need to live according to the Gospel have become the only message of the Russian Orthodox Church."

If I go around beating up usurers and adulterers, do I get a medal too?

Attempts were made to introduce this organisation into my country in its early days;  they were trying to recruit the younger Russians from the post Soviet wave of immigration.  What happened was that they set up a website and it contained not a little anti-Semitic material.  I was thankful that it was entirely in Russian.  However many of the Jewish people speak Russian and they took a case to the Human Rights Commission.   A Court decision ordered that the website be removed (it was on a New Zealand server.)  The owners were warned that they faced deportation by the Department of Immigration..... legislation permitting deportation for this type of offence was created when we discovered that we had given citizenship to a number of racists from South Africa.

Not in America, where usurers and adulterers are amply rewarded.

A lot of people like Australia and New Zealand with the good economy, great people, nice beaches, forests and kangaroos, population growing, opportunities, etc. But are their top universites on a par with some of the top American universities such as Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, UC Berkeley, University of Chicago, Notre Dame, Georgetown, etc. Or some of the top European schools. Also, in Europe you can go to Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Greece, whatever in a short time, whereas in Australia and New Zealand, you are  isolated to some extent.

on 16th August His Holiness Patriarch Kiril awarded the Order of Saint Seraphim to the Supreme Commander of the ""Union of Orthodox Banner-Bearers"  Simonovich-Nikshich

What was the stated reason for the award?
Quote from: Orthonorm
if Christ does and says x. And someone else does and says not x and you are ever in doubt, follow Christ.
