St. Catherine of Alexandria
« on: August 27, 2011, 01:40:50 PM »
Hello! I just wanted to start a thread devoted to miracles and other stories of intercession by St. Catherine of Alexandria.

Historian Harold Davis has suggested that St. Catherine of Alexandria is not a real person, but that her story was inspired by the story of the martyred pagan philosopher Hypatia. The Roman Catholic Church even went so far as to remove St. Catherine's feast day from the calendar in 1969, although they did reinstate the feast day in 2002.

One story I can think of which shows the existence of St. Catherine is the apparition to the Virgin Mary to St. Seraphim of Sarov. The Virgin Mary was accomapanied by virgin martyrs, one of them was St. Catherine.

Any other stories or first-hand accounts that anyone can think of?
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

This site has some good information:

I like St. Catherine.    Warning: stories have mature content.
