Dear All:
I am a recent seminary graduate, currently awaiting placement in a parish in my archdiocese. My understanding was that the assignment would come in the late summer, but I have heard little from my bishop up to this point. In the meantime, I've been sitting in limbo, and it is proving to be quite a test on my patience. I am hoping to hear something soon, in the next week or two. Your prayers would be appreciated.
In Christ,
Fr. Michael

My prayers.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy.
(Must the parish vote to accept you?)

Thank you for your prayers. No, the parish doesn't vote; in our Archdiocese, the Metropolitan assigns you as he sees fit.

There's a nice open parish in Lake Charles, La. Not a lot of glory, but good people. At any rate, I will pray for you wherever you are placed.

Lord, have mercy!
Perhaps you should email your bishop and simply ask on the status? Let him know how eager you are and how much you are looking forward to this new assignment.

I see that you are already ordained. Are you a priest or a deacon? I am assuming this is your first assignment. In our church if someone graduates & is newly ordained they are assigned as a second priest to a large urban parish to gain experience under an older priest. Maybe Metr. Phillip is awy on holidays. Everything does tend to slow down in the summer, so do not dispair. In the meantime we will all pray for you.
