Which Translation of "the Ladder" Should I Get?
« on: August 11, 2011, 09:51:57 PM »
...HOCNA's translation or "Classics of Western Spirituality"? I heard that the former translation was much better than the latter and that the latter translation in fact made the text lose a lot of its meaning.

What are your thoughts?

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. -The Lord Jesus

The Saviour is made of elements which are distinct from one another yet He is not two Persons. God forbid! For both natures are one by the combination. -St. Gregory Nazianzen

What is a good price for a book that is priceless?
I would be happy to agree with you, but then both of us would be wrong.

Excellent.

I also recommend HTM's translation.  You can buy it directly from HTM if you want; they have good service.  Many other online vendors, e.g. Eastern Christian Supply Co., and parish bookstores carry it as well.
