I recently ordered this book and I am so glad that I did. I haven't read it all yet, but it seems the kind of book one needn't read from cover to cover. It is divided into 4 sections: What is depression, what causes depression, how to alleviate depression, and spiritual struggle. The entire book is a compilation of quotes, mostly from patristic and monastic sources, that deal with despair, depression, and hopelessness, etc, and how to overcome these in the context of the life of the Church through faith, prayer, service, and so on. It really gives one hope when things seem black. I think it would be most helpful not only for those who deal with deep depression regularly, but virtually every modern Christian.
