Has any one here seen Mysteries of the Jesus Prayer? I've seen a lot of good reviews for this documentary (around Orthodox circles and Amazon.com) but bad reviews among critics (Rotten Tomatoes). I'm planning to see this via Netflix on my PS3. It's based on the book of the same title.

Here are a few links:

- GTA

EDIT: Netflix doesn't have it available anymore. I might rent it on youtube.

I just purchased it a few weeks ago. It's invaluable viewing. I think I paid 10$ for it on i-tunes. I can't recommend this movie highly enough.

They showed it on TV not too long ago. Now that I know it's on DVD, I'll try and get it too.  Smiley

I enjoyed it as well.  The title is a bit misleading, as you'll not find a great deal of information on the prayer itself.  It's basically a wonderfully hesychastic travelogue.

Also, some choice scenes of EO and OO monks/elders speaking about the prayer.  For all you ladies out there, they even go to a convent and interview an abbess!

Interesting locations and words of wisdom.

Like most men, you should listen more to your wife. And she was being kind, BTW. Sounds like a wonderful woman.

I think that is legal.

They generally give good reviews to horrible movies, like the movie "Once," which should not even be watched once--unless one has severe insomnia or, for medical reasons, needs a bit of homicidal rage to stay alive.

I take it that you didn't care for it much.

I haven't seen it, yet.

Perhaps I'll try to free YouTube route.
