I'm catching up on my backlog.

At the moment I'm playing Final Fantasy XIII, Red Dead Revolver, and currently reinstalling Mass Effect 1&2 so I can remember where to find the save files from my back up so that I can get started playing Mass Effect 3.

I'm also replaying (or playing the Wii version for the first time) Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros, and Brutal Legend (the sanitized version with bleeped language and no gore so I can play before my nieces go to bed).

Civilization 5 . . . re installed recently in preparation for 2nd expansion, Brave New World.  This game is the ultimate time sink and soul destroyer.

So true. I liked Civ V a lot, but it will never beat Civ 3 and 4.

As for what games I'm currently playing, I'm getting back into Company of Heroes, specifically The Eastern Front mod.

Yeah, for someone who started with Civ3, not having the stacks of doom just feels so wrong. Objectively, I can understand how Civ 5 is a good game but it just doesn't feel like Civ to me.

I started at Civ II and I would agree that Civ IV is the best of the bunch, especially with the Warlords expansion.

Nice idea...especially because now I have to play as Empress of the HRE ( the previous Emperor had no sons Sad ) and unfortunately, the Pope is the husband of the Empress, so divorce is out of question. And with living husband....the Empress can not marry the Byzantine Emperor and marry the children with his children. And when time comes.... Roll Eyes

Paradox Interactive released a new expansion for Crusader Kings II called "The Old Gods" where you can now play as pagans and have a unique game. You can also send missionaries to the pagan lands, though they'll probably die, but the pagans could also convert.

The pagans can have female clergy as well, which has opened up a really odd, and wrong possibility. If you are playing as a pagan, and convert to Orthodoxy, and have your female priestess convert as well, she will become an Orthodox "Bishop" in the game... ... I'm hoping they patch that out soon.

The new patch (still beta) added the Roman culture (basically Roman emperors names) with the Hellenic faith.

But still, you can't re-create the Roman Empire.

It is nonsense, and we have people asking for more stuff for that faith!!!

it did not exist anymore!

pagans op!!!

 Angry

--

PS, about civilization, I only liked Civ IV mostly. Civ V I dislike, since they removed religion only to make you pay for it in an expansion. spreading religion was very fun for me... but boy did I get angry when another religion spreadi n my cities... i had to edit them out... one faith, one god, one nation!!!!  Angry

also, Civ V religious tree makes no sense. Why would the end of the theocracy tree be having "Free religion"? makes no sense. so i prefered the old civ iv method

Why? That's insane. There was only one semi-infleuntial Hellenic pagan in the CKII timeframe.

people on the forums were making big threads about it... always on the front page

the developers did say though, they think they opened a can of worms by doing it... because peopel are asking for more and more...

Most of them are just frustrated atheists anyway. I hope the devs don't give in too much or we might see Europe ending up pagan nine out of ten times within a few patches. It's all silly and unrealistic.

This CKII is intriguing me.  Do you get to choose how much of the DLC to use?  That pagan expansion and the one where the Aztecs invade Europe (Huh) seem a bit stupid, but otherwise, sounds like an interesting game.  I used to play a lot of Hearts of Iron, so am somewhat familiar with paradox games.

So the Xbox One is coming out this November I hear. I'm probably not going to buy one unless a friend gets tired of it and sells one to me for a cheaper price. Console gaming is really a rip-off, seeing that their one console per every 5 or so years can't keep up with the rapidly expanding PC technology that becomes more advanced every week. It was cool back in the 80s and 90s, but now console gaming is really pointless.

+ as I read, a small community living in the mountains was still pagan, but fully christianized after the 9th century.

Well it's just available with the Ruler Designer, you don't have any Hellenic ruler. You make it yourself.
