I'm a huge archer in Skyrim, which bow, upgrade and enchantment combination would you gents say works the best? Right now I'm using a legendary Daedric bow with a soul capture enchantment and an Orcish helmet of archery.

I happen to enjoy being a wood elf with enchantment skills. You can really power up your archery by disenchanting a lightning item and a helmet of archery. Mix that with the dark brother hood armor and you're pretty nasty.

I'll have to admit, when I was playing Skyrim for my first run through back in November, I often tried to think about which game I liked more (Skyrim or DA:O). They both seemed to have strengths and weaknesses. However, when I recently went back and started playing DA:O again, it seemed quite different than how I remember it. I mean, I loved DA:O, not only as a game, but as a world generally (e.g. I bought the books tied to DA). Now, though, even taking into consideration the much better characters in DA:O, it still seems much inferior to Skyrim. Bioware have hinted that they might go with a large open world ala Skyrim for DA3, and I definitely hope so.

EDIT--Oh, forgot to say, yeah I agree about DA2. In fact I took it in to Gamestop to trade it in 3 days after I bought it on it's release date. I decided to give it another shot, though, and asked for and received the game as a gift for Christmas... though I still haven't gone back and tried it again.

I agree that the characters seem more "real" in DA:O than Skyrim. Thats something that Elder Scrolls lost after Morrowind IMHO.

However, the world of Elder Scrolls (I especially felt it in Morrowind and Oblivion) had a "history" and made me feel like people lived there for generations where in DA the world felt static and flat. I think an open world would help that.

Since we're on the subject of RPG's, did you like Kingdoms of Amalur? I played the demo and decided not to get it.

I'm generally weary of licensed games, but that looks like it might have some potential. I'll wait for reviews first though. Also, it's "Doctor Who," not "Dr. Who."

20 days to what? Smiley

So far I've already missed Journey, which I've heard is really good, but since I don't have an internet connection on my ps3 I haven't been able to get it. Also, I think someone asked about Amalur earlier, but I didn't end up getting that, it was just too much money at a time when I need to save for other stuff (though I did buy a used copy of Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny today). Other games I'm hoping to get this year are:

Port Royale 3 (PS3-June)
Risen 2 (PS3-July)
Madden 13 (PS3-August)
DQX (WiiU - Nov/Dec?)
Lego City Stories (WiiU - Nov/Dec?)

My Dragon Quest X hopes have been dashed... wtf...

That'd cost me over $200 just to play the game for 1 year!  Angry  For a wii/wiiU game? and a game that I'm mostly excited about just because I've been playing the franchise since 1990, and not actually because of anything specific to this game that I've seen?

What a rotten way to start the day...

I'm really starting to hate all these subscription services for the big new games. We already pay for the game, plus the console, plus the online membership (X Box Live or whatever network you use), and accessories for some of the games (headphones, special guns, etc.) Then they have to stick on an extra big chunk of cash in order to compete online. What for, other than the pleasure of robbing us? Pretty soon, if someone wants to play more than one of these big name games per year, the expenses will run into several hundred dollars or even more, just for online play. Then they'll simply have priced the average gamer out of it. Or, you'll have to pay an arm and a leg just for even one game a year. Why don't they just call it what it is, highway robbery?

I registered on an Orthodox forum and the first thing I post is about games which I have a dozen plus forum subscriptions for discussing. Smiley

If true, I will rage...

Next PlayStation to lock out used games

Buckle up, Sony enthusiasts. A tipster has told Kotaku that the PlayStation 4 is named "Orbis," and that it will feature an anti-used game system, offer no backwards compatibility with PlayStation 3 titles, and ship in holiday 2013...

If true, it will sadly be that time to write Sony off completely. There was a period- around 2005- when I thought Sony could do no wrong. They've spent the last 7 years doing their level best to prove how mistaken I was.

I learned in 2005 how terrible Sony was... They destroyed one of the best games ever... But today Bioware has surpassed SWG with SWTOR and I'm enjoying TOR far more than I did SWG. Even with some idiots hating on it.

I'd recommend seeking some serious spiritual guidance for such apostasy. No MMORPG will ever surpass SWG, whether Pre-CU, CU, or NGE. SWTOR's a nice game, but it feels so...generic? There's nothing that stands out about it, compared to SWG whether you could actually live in the Star Wars universe, SWTOR only features rails, rails, and more rails. That's nice if you like developer hand-holding, but for players that enjoy freedom and choice (not the BioWare definition of "choice"), then it's sorely lacking.  Of course, over the many, many MMORPGs that I've played, I've always preferred sandboxes to themeparks. Either way, I still have an active subscription. But, I digress.

I tend to rotate my gaming schedule from RTSs to RPGs to FPSs with MMO subscriptions thrown in the mix somewhere. I'm currently replaying for the umpteenth time Medieval 2 using the Invasio Barbarum II mod. Before that it was Empire and Shogun II. I might pick up Skyrim when the price drops, but we'll see.
