Glad to see you home safe, DC. I'm sure you are the best present of all for your daughter! Smiley

I know that it has been a long time since I updated this thread, but I thought I would throw a few quick updates your way...

We have just over a month left in this country. We are starting to pack and get our stuff ready to be put on a connex to be shipped home. It looks like we will be getting a civilian flight out of here so we should be able to wear civilian clothing on the flight.

We have to spend a few days at our Demobilization site for over a week getting our paper work in order and then a day or two at our home station after that... then, well its party time, and by party I mean I'm going to sleep so hard you'll think I am dead. And then probably have a beer (Guinness, Killians or a Sam Adams maybe all three).

My wife is planning on surprising my daughter at day care if I am released on a school day, I think she is going to record the whole thing. I don't know if she has said anything to our parish about me coming home, but I might like that to be a surprise too, idk yet (probably play that one by ear).

You should have about a month of terminal leave by the time you get released from active duty. Enjoy it, you earned it.

My guess would be someone else determining his schedule, working him til late at night, and having him up at the crack of dawn with the bugle call.

Right now its because we aren't doing anything. It's kind of like when you are always active you seem to have more energy, but when you just sit around you get tired. That and I've found that sleeping will get rid of jet lag and stress that has accumulated over time.

Actually the only times I worked really late at night was by my own choice, and we haven't been getting up at the bugle call lately. But I guess there were all those times that I didn't get enough sleep due to what you mentioned.

You should have about a month of terminal leave by the time you get released from active duty. Enjoy it, you earned it.

I should actually have over a month as this was my second deployment... I'm still going to enjoy it  Cool

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!

And I'm back in the USA!

I managed to sleep for the majority of the flight back from Kuwait, so I'm doing pretty good for right now.

We landed in Baltimore at about 1140 EST then took a nice bus ride to Ft. Dix where we will be for about two weeks. I'm glad to have the majority of our deployment behind us now. Now for the paper work...

You paying my way?

The wife and I are thinking of hitting the beach down there with the little bit, probably going to stop by and what not.

If you're hitting the beaches down here, you'd better stop by! G's ma and pa will hunt you down if you don't!

I will, bro, don't worry, but I don't know when I'll get the chance to actually make that trip.
