As part of my daily prayer rule I do morning prayers as soon as I rise and evening prayers right before I go to bed. And it so happens that when I say these prayers I am in my pajamas (regular PJs, a t shirt and some pajama bottoms). Is there anything "impious" or inappropriate about this? I never really thought about it until today. Thanks!

I don't think God would care whether we prayed in our best church clothes or while we were stranded out in the jungle covered in mud and filth. The importance lies in the prayer, not the appearance of the one who says it.  |

Given that, IIRC, St. Mary of Egypt was naked in the desert for a lot of years, and given that she probably prayed quite a bit, I'd say pajamas aren't bad to pray in.

I've started saying my morning prayers in my exercise clothes during the first several minutes out on my morning walk/jog (started walking/running about 2 months ago). Part of me feels funny doing this, but at the same time I was finding that I wasn't saying the prayers regularly before, where I am doing so more now.

I belong to the "it is better to be sloppily-dressed and comfortable and able to keep your mind/heart on God than to be formally dressed and uncomfortable, distracted by the itching of your collar or tightness of your belt" school of thought. Pyjamas are also good for prostrations! |

I usually just pray at home in a t-shirt and the basketball shorts I usually wear around the house. It doesn't matter what we wear. When we are before God, we are naked spiritually. He sees into our heart and we cannot hide anything from Him. All is visible to Him and I don't think He will care what we wear when we pray in our home. What matters more to Him is what our heart is wearing.
