What's so great about Gmail? I have an account and I know it has a lot of space, but what else is cool about it?

sdcheung,

I tried sending you my last one, but it got kicked back saying the e-mail address was not valid or some bunk like that.  Maybe you can make a free hotmail account or something so I can send it there.

Since the invite got kicked back, I didn't know what to do, so I took it and made another name for myself! (I'm selfish, I know) But at least now I will have more invites to give out.

And now I have my perfect gmail address: pharmakolytria@gmail.com  ::)

so i was having problems accessing my gmail inbox for a few minutes today, and decided to google "gmail" to see if i could get to it through a link....and i came across this website:

http://gmail-is-too-creepy.com/

all u more computer savvy people, please check this out and tell me if gmail is safe or not? i mean, i was able to follow most of what the site says, but tell me if you think it's credible or not, and if it's worth trashing the account for? (i really dont want to do that)...part of me thinks the people who made this site are just conspiracy theorists, but what do i know :)

thanx :)

I have only had one invitation to give out so far(which was gone a few weeks ago), but hopefully other members will still have one available.  I'm not too worried about the service.  Since that page was written, it is now an easy one step process to move your mail to the trash bin.  I am a fan of privacy rights in general, but I don't think Google is going very far beyond what other free email providers (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) have in the legalese of their own user agreements.  The text-relevant keywords seem to be what is setting everyone off, but the FBI's Carnivore software does pretty much the same thing anyway with just about any form of internet interaction, so I don't see this as much of a new intrusion.
