Very bad.

Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy! Lord Have Mercy!

Whether Orthodox or not, this man has faced/is facing a martyr's tribulation and we must pray for his deliverance.

It is stories like this that make me have very unpleasant thoughts about Islam and muslims, thoughts for which I must now repent for and seek forgiveness (thoughts involving mecca and a very strong bomb.......). Then I remember that it is the hallmark of Orthodox Christians that under Ottomans, Fatimids, Mamelukes, Abbasids, Almohads and Khans the true faith has survived intact, and that to repay our enemies with hatred is submission to the evil one and precisely what the ungodly would do (as illustrated in this article).

May the Lord forgive us all our sins, and deliver our persecuted brethren!

peace, and asking forgiveness,

Mor Ephrem
